My husband’s grandma was a career English teacher, she died 2 months after we got married 12 years ago and I have loved getting to know her better through her writing. She tried to get all 7 of her grandkids to appreciate the value of reading, but I keep hearing that I am the most like her. My kids have always performed well in school and I did too, but I hope I can impart to them that reading and writing have always helped me to make sense of my life and understand others too.
Thanks for putting all of this into words! I see this in my high schoolers all the time, but what we need is them to be living like Anne of Green Gables!
